It’s always exciting when a friend is releasing a new book, and it’s especially exciting when I can give that book my strongest recommendation.

My friend Bianca Schulze’s new picture book, Don’t Wake the Dragon, is released on July 28th, and it is so much fun to read with little ones.

Don’t Wake the Dragon is an interactive picture book that reminds me of Press Here, but with a special bedtime twist. Folks all over the castle are making noise, and it’s your job to quiet them down so they don’t wake the rascally dragon.

Readers will be rocking the dragon, blowing out birthday candles, and singing lullabies, all in the name of helping the dragon sleep. If you and your young reader are successful, you’ll send not only the dragon but the entire castle off to dream land.

My three-year-old absolutely loves interactive books like this, and we had so much fun reading Don’t Wake the Dragon together. His giggles and smiles made reading this book together so special. It’s become a bedtime favorite.

If you’re looking for a new book to add to your bedtime rotation (featuring a sassy female dragon), I highly recommend picking up a copy of Don’t Wake the Dragon. Your little ones will absolutely adore it, and you will love the memories you make reading it.

About the Book

Don’t Wake the Dragon

Written by Bianca Schulze

Illustrated by Samara Hardy

Publisher’s Synopsis: Shhh! Be very quiet. The rascally dragon is finally asleep. But, when the page turned, the breeze blew the door shut with a BANG! Did it wake up the dragon? Create a fantastic bedtime experience by reading this interactive story featuring a reluctant-to-sleep dragon—a character that children will surely relate! Designed to be read aloud, parents will take pleasure in the playful text as much as children will enjoy hearing it. When the story finally comes to an end, and the gentle lullaby is repeated, the dragon – and your child! – are encouraged to drift off to sleep.
