I grew up watching the original Star Wars trilogy, and it was one of the things I couldn’t wait to share with my own kids. I am happy to say that my little guys have grown into big fans, and it’s something that we all enjoy together. Each trip to the library usually includes a selection of Star Wars books.
Since I know that fans of the series come in all ages and ability levels, I put together a book list based on some of our favorite Star Wars reads. No matter the age of your Jedi, I think you’ll find something that they will love here!

Board Books
Star Wars Epic Yarns by Jack and Holman Wang — These books are great for tiny hands, but my six-year-old also loves them and checks them out every time we go to the library. They feature adorable felt representations of Star Wars characters, and a single word on each page.
Picture Books
Star Wars Little Golden Books — There are many titles to choose from in this Little Golden Book series, and my kids have enjoyed each one we’ve read. They have quality illustrations, and the stories are true to the movies. One of these sets would be perfect for the little Jedi in your life.
5-Minute Star Wars Stories — Need a bedtime story that won’t take all night? We love this fun and fast story book. The stories move through the movie series from The Phantom Menace to The Force Awakens.
Early Readers
World of Reading Star Wars Early Readers — This level-1 series is great for very early readers, and features all the characters and story lines that young Star Wars fans love.
DK Star Wars Early Readers — This series has early readers at every level, and also includes Lego Star Wars and Star Wars: the Clone Wars books as well. There’s something for every little Star Wars fan in this collection.
Chapter Books
The Force Awakens: Rey’s Story by Elizabeth Schaefer — I love Rey, and this chapter book tells her story in a way that middle grade readers will love. Finn’s Story is also available.
Journey to Star Wars: The Force Awakens series — These chapter books tell the story of what happens between the end of Return of the Jedi and the beginning of The Force Awakens. Keep up with happens to Luke, Leia, and Han during this timeframe! Dedicated fans will love this detailed series.
